Under the 1994
Marriage Act, civil ceremonies are allowed to take place in buildings other than
the traditional venues that were duly licensed for that purpose. Regiment Way
was granted approval by Essex County Council under the 1994 Marriage Act in July
2004.
The
comfort and convenience of having your ceremony and reception in the same
location makes the choice of Regiment Way popular and attractive to many
couples. The main difference in a civil wedding centres on the ceremony, which
is relatively informal and short (only 10 to 15 minutes long). You may add
readings and music to extend this time, as long as they are not of a religious
nature.
